Feeling Badass

So I have always loved the punky badass look. I went through a pretty embarassing Hot Topic phase as a teenager, and although I dont wear baggy black pants with chains on them anymore, I still love a skull & stud combo. I love bringing these punky elements into a girly look though. This skull print dress from H&M is one of my favorite weekend pieces and combines both elements seamlessly.
Today was a fun day out shopping with my boyfriend. We are in the process of giving him a wardrobe update! (hooray, finally) We stopped by Buffalo Exchange, Crossroads Trading, and H&M to pick up some cool duds. More on our finds later this week....

Boots are a whole other thing. I have always had MAJOR issues buying boots. Anything "normal" height hits at the worst part of my knee, squishing them and making it impossible to move. I also have *ahem* wide calves. In a normal shoe store, I usually find one or two pairs that can even zip up! #petitegirlproblems But...luckily I found the perfect shoes last year at Also, my favorite shoe store. These are the perfect height and zip up, but the laces let you increase the width of the boots, so they are ideal for my needs.
Wearing boots with a dress was never a thing I did. I was worried I was too short and that it would emphasize how thick my legs are. Then one day, I slept over at a friends house after a long drunken night and the next day everyone was going out for breakfast. My heels from the night before were super duper high and we were walking to the cafe, my only option was to borrow another girls boots. I was super self concious for the first few minutes in public, wearing my short dress and leather boots. But by the end of the breakfast, I was loving it! I actually felt really cute and got over my fear of the boot-dress combo. So here is my advice, never be afraid to try something once! Trying something new and scary is the best way to discover a cool new look!
