Bon Weekend

This weekend has been so wonderful! It is officially one year since I moved to Los Angeles, and it is the best decision I could have made! Tim and I agree that we have done well to get jobs, support ourselves, and make new friends in the city. We treated ourselves with a weekend of yummy food, good friends, and a bit of drinking.

I treated myself to a bit of shopping. My friend has been telling me about the surplus Urban Outfitters in Sherman Oaks. If you are a UO fan and live in the LA area, you MUST GO! This place is amazing. It features overstock, out of season, and poor selling styles at big discounts. Most of the stuff seemed to be there simply because it was so overpriced to begin with. (a common theme at UO). I made out with $375 worth of clothing and accessories for $95. I got a great basic black skirt, an olive colored crop top, a chunky sweater for layering, and a ridiculous purse I totally didnt need but also totally had to have.

On the phone with my little brother, basking in the glory of the purse. My dress has a really cool story behind it. On a trip to Vietnam during high school I went into a silk factory, picked out fabric, and sketched a design. The amazing dress makers there sewed up this sun dress and my prom dress within a day based on my sketches. It was an amazing trip and I love having this custom made dress to remember the trip by.

That night I HAD to wear the crop top. I have been looking for the perfect crop top that could be work appropriate over a high waist skirt and fun for weekends showing off some skin. I had seen this rib knit one online before but doubted the knit would look good. When I tried it on in-store, I immediately had to have it. Even at the deep discount, it was still $19,99, but that was way better than the original $69. I rocked it on a night out on the Sunset strip with a pair of bronze metallic jeans, perfect combo.

Shameless selfie in the bathroom mirror. My hair was too amazing not to document.

After surviving a fireball induced hangover, Tim and I redeemed ourselves by heading out to the Hollywood farmers market, our favorite Sunday spot. The produce is amazing, but there is also a baby pig I go visit every time we go, so cute! I wore my vintage 1950s nightgown, one of my favorite summer layering pieces. The fabric is lightweight and the periwinkle color is so amazing, I really love it! I pair it with this crochet top or a sheer blouse, sometimes belted depending on how I feel. With a cute hat and a bouquet of amazing wild flowers, it was the perfect spring weekend look.

Periwinkle is an underrated color!
